Mark Peskin,
Chief Financial Officer
Mark Peskin joined Sterling Equities in 2003
as Chief Financial Officer. He previously
served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief
Financial Officer of a financial services
company specializing in the financing of works
of art. From 1984 to 2001 he was Managing
Director - Chief Operating/Financial Officer
of a privately held $1.3 billion pension fund
advisor. His background also includes ten
years as a Senior Audit Manager and Director
of Personnel for the New York office of one
of the big five accounting firms. Mr. Peskin
holds a MBA in Corporate Finance from New
York University, is a Certified Public Accountant
and graduated Cum Laude from State University
of New York.
Gregory P. Nero,
General Counsel
Gregory P. Nero joined Sterling Equities in 2002 and now serves as General Counsel for Sterling Equities and the Sterling American Property Funds. Prior to joining Sterling Equities, Mr. Nero was an associate at Kirkland & Ellis where he specialized in real estate, corporate and private equity transactions. He has extensive experience in the acquisition, financing and disposition of real estate; private equity investments; commercial leasing; partnerships and joint venture transactions; and multi-investor fund formations and investments. Mr. Nero received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and a B.A. degree from Emory University.
Tarak Patolia, Chief Investment Officer
Tarak Patolia joined Sterling in 1994 and currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer. He has been involved in the negotiation, acquisition, asset management and disposition of over $3 billion of real estate and real estate related assets and with the formation of four of the five Sterling American Funds. Prior to Sterling, he was a technical analyst in New York and was a practicing architect and developer for companies he founded in his native India. Mr. Patolia has an MBA in finance from Pace University and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from CEPT in Ahmedabad, India.
Anne Pawelczak, Senior Director of Human Resources
Anne Pawelczak joined Sterling in 1998. She currently serves as the Director of Human Resources for Sterling Equities and Sterling Mets, where she is responsible for overseeing all hiring, employee relations and employee benefits. Prior to Sterling, Anne headed the Human Resources Department for a national conglomerate.
Daniel G.
Rosenberg, Controller
Daniel G. Rosenberg joined Sterling in 2002 and
serves as Controller for Sterling Equities
and the Sterling American Funds, responsible
for overseeing the accounting and financial
reporting functions for the funds. Prior to
Sterling, he was a partner in a regional accounting
firm that specialized in real estate and was
an industry specialist with one of the Big
4 accounting firms and has been a Chief Financial
Officer in the public and non-profit sectors.
Mr. Rosenberg is a Certified Public Accountant,
holds a law degree from Fordham University
School of Law, and a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree from The City University
of New York. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is the Chairperson of the NYSSCPA's Real Estate Committee.
Joseph D. Hyman,
Treasurer
Joseph D. Hyman joined Sterling Equities in 1999
as Treasurer. Prior to Sterling, Mr. Hyman
was the Director of Taxation, Cash Management
and Risk Management at the New York headquarters
for a major foreign bank specializing in real
estate. He specializes in structuring real
estate investments, minimizing tax liabilities,
financial reporting and risk management. Mr.
Hyman received a J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo
School of Law and is a Certified Public Accountant.
He has a MBA from Hofstra University and a
B.B.A. degree from Adelphi University.
Todd M. Katz,
Marketing
and Investor Relations
Todd M. Katz joined Sterling Equities in 2008. Mr. Katz oversees all marketing, public relation, and investor relation functions for the Sterling American Funds. Prior to joining Sterling, he was an analyst at a major private equity real estate firm based in New York City. Mr. Katz holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, and obtained his Masters of Business Administration from the Columbia Business School.
