Risk Management and Tax Associate
Sterling Equities is currently seeking an experienced and reliable Risk Management and Tax Associate to join our growing Tax/Risk Management Department.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Treasurer with annual insurance policy renewals and new policies including the preparation of applications;
- Oversee processing and resolution of property and general liability claims;
- At the direction of the Treasurer, ensure the proper coverage is maintained with the addition or deletion of properties;
- Compute, update and maintain files for return of premiums when properties are sold;
- Respond to requests from brokers, claims adjusters, accountants and property managers;
- Assist in the resolution of workers compensation insurance audits;
- Prepare insurance budget spreadsheet for the accountants and asset managers to facilitate the completion of the budget process;
- Calculate the Self Insured Retention and maintain its schedule pertaining to the general liability coverage;
- Review of monthly expense reports;
- Process tax returns for filing which include:
o Prepare disclosure statements and schedules to be attached to returns;
o Help assemble returns to be filed and then execute appropriate steps to mail the returns;
o Maintain log of mailings to monitor tax return filings; and
o Ensure that the tax department filing system is maintained.
- Minimal administrative functions in support of the Treasurer include:
- Faxing and copying
- Answering phones
- Typing correspondences
- Maintaining calendar and schedule
Requirements:
- 2-3 years experience in insurance industry;
- Bachelors Degree/BBA;
- Must be well organized and possess attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications; and
- Minimum 2-5 years previous administrative experience

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist users via email and telephone with daily support needs for Yardi application
New user setup
Setup property lists
Password reset
Voyager/Enterprise menu modifications
Report scheduling
Assist in testing new Yardi/Accounting procedures
Troubleshoot and report inconsistencies
Communicate effectively with end users to identify needs and provide status
Continually seek opportunities to increase end use satisfaction and deepen client relationshipsManage internal client expectations effectively Good judgment with how and what to communicate with end usersKnow when to request assistance from team members
Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training 2-4 years experience in providing help desk support

Accounting, Job Costing, Facilities Maintenance or Property Management experience a big plus

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting
5-7 years accounting experience
Commercial Real Estate experience required.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles
